This post is in response to those that keep asking, "Why?"

Why would police officers, prosecutors, lawyers, legislators, and elected officials act against the best interest of the public, abuse taxpayers, act in conjunction to retaliate, obstruct justice, and involve themselves in racketeering as if they were one single crime syndicate acting as a Mafia?

The simple answer is, "What is basic human nature?"

If you were paid highly, had no real boss, and could do as you pleased, when you pleased, what would you do?

If an underage girl in a Connecticut downtown is raped, and you complain to a State Police Officer, he's most likely White, and may have some questionable conduct in his own past, before being an officer and maybe, during.

If the girls does not live in the suburbs, the officer might not want to even bother doing any work. Accusing the girl of lying and threatening to arrest her and her family for making a false statement, would get him off the hook for having to work.

There is no real accountability. Cops know this. They also know that their job is to "Protect the Integrity" of the system, not to protect and serve those who pay them, taxpayers. So, if they serve you, not their brothers, they face the same system of retaliation that ordinary citizens do when they complain- DCF, other police officers, prosecutors, attorneys, judges, parole and probation officers, and Department of Correction officials all play on the same team, for each other, with each other, against you, if you get in THEIR way.

So, if you are quiet, even if you are not yet a victim, silence signifies acceptance.

Judgeships for sale

Former Connecticut Chief State's Attorney Christopher L. Morano.

I asked him [post] about prosecuting the "pay to play" enablers such as M. Lisa Moody in Rell's insider squad. Commissioners shouldn't be required to make campaign contributions to their bosses campaign fund. I've talked to Kevin Kane, the current Chief State's Attorney, and believe he is part of the continued retaliation and cover-up campaign. There needs to be prosecutions of officials involved in this scam on taxpayers and breach of public trust.

The Judicial Branch, skewed a taxpayer funded survey of themselves, sealed public comment from the public involving felonies committed by judges and judicial managers, and then gave themselves straight A's for ethics. Kevin Kane sat in on this BS cheer leading event for the judicial branch. [video]

In Connecticut, as probably in most US States, it is pay to play.

If you want a job as a Commissioner, Judge, Prosecutor, or if you want a cushy job for your spouse, friend, or family, it is also pay to play.

Make a campaign contribution to a Congressperson, designated elected official, or directly to, or to the campaign, of the person that promised you the job if you pay.

Governor Rell nominated judges [example] who had NO EXPERIENCE in criminal or family courts. One to be placed in the state's busiest court! Legislators knowingly confirm, re-confirm, and refuse to discipline judges who they know are knowingly harming children and families. It is time to end the patronage.

Sociopaths should not be able to tear up families, officially torture, confine, fine, and ruin at will. Those that expose get followed around by the State Police, set up, and have to face a judge who is in someone else's pocket. Yes, political prisoners and being held in Connecticut jails.

Former Connecticut Governor John G. Rowland was given an almost free ride by judges who most likely, "paid to play", and is now living like a rock star on his taxpayer paid pension. In Connecticut, for the Elite, crime does pay.

Re: Children’s mental health law signed-Child who spoke at Statehouse later killed self. By Steve LeBlanc THE ASSOCIATED PRESS August 22. 2008

Dear Governor Patrick,

When you and I were children, the symptoms of "anxiety" and "bipolar disorder" were not diagnosed by teachers, were not called "chemical imbalances"/ “diseases,” and were not treated with exogenous chemicals/poisons/ drugs as if such diagnoses were actual diseases (throughout medicine with the notable exception of psychiatry: demonstrable physical abnormality (gross, microscopic or chemical) = disease = disorder; no abnormality = disease-free, disorder-free, normal).

However, today, in the lives of Mary Ann Tufts and her now-deceased daughter, Yolanda Torres, diagnoses of "anxiety," "bipolar," “conduct disorder,” “oppositional defiant disorder,” etc., etc. have become the primary business of the school teachers of the nation, duped and indoctrinated, hell-bent, not to render children behaved, attentive, literate, and educated, but to do the business of the psychiatric- pharmaceutical cartel, which is to see that as many as possible are labeled and drugged as if this was science and medicine and as if this addressed real diseases and assured something nebulous called "mental health.” Elsewhere we are told that Yolanda tried drug after drug—antipsychotics, mood stabilizers, antianxiety pills and lithium - some of which caused a weight gain of 50 pounds on her 5-foot frame. Surely this was not good for her either mentally or medically. Eight months after visiting the statehouse on behalf of her "Yolanda's bill," Yolanda Torres committed suicide.

"Yolanda's bill" it is said, will help train teachers, guidance counselors and nurses to better identify mental health needs in students, and through the state Department of Early Education and Care will provide behavioral health consultation services in early education and care programs to reach children with mental illness earlier. How could they be more efficient at this pseudo-scientific “labeling”/ “diagnosing” than they already are. Will they be taught more coercive measures with which to bully sensible, enlightened parents who see through the scam, who understand that psychiatrists do not diagnose actual physical, organic abnormalities/ diseases/ disorders, who never have.

It is hard to imagine that more mental health observation, "diagnosis" and "treatment" is necessary in the schools of Massachusetts or the nation than we see today with 20% of all children in US public schools thus diagnosed and on one or more psychiatric medications and 50-75% of all children in foster care thus "diagnosed" and "treated,” quiet as if ill-fortune was a disease.

In your time and in mine, Governor Patrick, there were no such deaths and no such “diseases” or “treatments” in any childhood populations.

Where is the proof that more teacher mental health observation, diagnosis and treatment will improve anything much less the educational outcome for Massachusetts’ s and all US children.

There is no proof that any of Yolanda's psychiatric diagnoses were actual diseases, or that any of Rebecca Riley's (Hull, MA) diagnoses were actual diseases. There is no proof that they had any actual diseases other than the intoxications of the psychiatric drug polypharmacy assured by their every pseudoscientific diagnosis each of them justification for one or more psychiatric drugs called "chemical balancers" for "chemical imbalances" of the brain, each a terrible fiction.

So it is that the DSM of the APA is a complete and beastly work of fiction, an evil tool with which to justify the drugging of entirely normal children by the millions. While Dr. Joseph Biederman, on the payroll of to many pharmaceutical corporations to remember, would not agree, children are not suffering and dying for want of more psychiatric diagnoses and treatments, but strictly because of those diagnoses and treatments. Tragically, Yolanda's mother does not get it even now. Tragically for all of the children of Massachusetts, you and your state's legislature do not get it. Yolanda and Rebecca Riley and who knows how many thousand of children in your state and millions in the nation are dying as never before because of this bogus, fraudulent, evil diagnosing and drugging where there are no actual diseases to begin with, only emotional and behavioral symptoms which can and will abate with nothing more than consistent, common sense, love and the touch of human kindness while totally rejecting the notion of psychiatric disease

In 1952 in the first edition of the American Psychiatric Association’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-I), homosexuality was classified as a mental disorder (with abnormality = disorder = disease). However in scientific information from researchers like Evelyn Hooker and Kinsey, the APA declassified homosexuality as a mental disorder with a vote of 58% (how it is done in psychiatry) of the membership supporting the measure. The current DSM contains a diagnosis of "persistent and marked distress about one’s sexual orientation. " Might this become law as so many of their disorders have allowing judges to court-order “chemical balancers” for their “chemical imbalances” or otherwise stigmatizing them and rolling back their civil rights. So much for psychiatry as medical science. So much for the notion of psychiatric diseases. There is no escaping the conclusion that the first and only real abnormality/ disease/chemical imbalance is that resulting from the drug or drugs that invariably follow the fraudulent labeling—the greatest health care fraud of all time.

There can be no doubt whatsoever that Rebecca Riley of Hull, Massachusetts died, not of her fraudulent “diseases”/”disorders” but rather of the multiple psychiatric drugs with which she was poisoned (what even prescription drugging is called when no disease was present to begin with). Rebecca’s parents sit in jail to this day charged with her murder when, in fact, noted Harvard psychiatrists that advance the for-profit fiction that pediatric/childhood bipolar disorder is a bona fide disease, needing/requiring psychotropic drug treatment are the ones at fault.

When teachers themselves are forbidden from making diagnoses and suggesting drugs what they do instead is to urge, suggest, insist, that the parents of pupils they have "diagnosed," go to a physician or mental health professional which accomplishes the same thing--that the child is diagnosed and medicated, as surely as if the teacher had been the one making the diagnosis and referring the child and family to a physician who they know will prescribe the needed "chemical balancers"-- drugs. Either way the epidemic of mental disorders, diseases, grows and with it prescriptions for psychiatric drugs--intoxicants, poisons, all detectible in the blood, body and brain--the first abnormality/ disease the pupil, now a patient actually has.

In fact, the parents and family should decide if and when to take their children to a physician or to any kind of a health care professional with educators speaking their piece on the issue, but nothing more.

Today the “mental health” indoctrinated teacher corps requires and coerces until their will and the collective will of the therapeutic/ mental health school is done. This bill is just what educators and the "mental health" industry want. It will lead to more diagnoses, more children "treated" and to more deaths such as this one and that of Rebecca Riley.

Please call or write if I can answer any questions you may have.

The title of the above youtube video is, "Lawyer goes to prison for testing Free Speech". I believe that Rockville Connecticut Judge Jonathan Kaplan was the precipitate of her arrest and imprisonment because he didn't want her expressing her free speech rights about what judges are getting away with in Connecticut and Massachusetts courts. Connecticut judges seem to have no problem making sure that anyone who exposes prosecutorial, police, or judicial misconduct can be hauled off to jail just to shut them up.

Is the Connecticut Judicial Branch on Alert?

The Connecticut Court and Policing System has long been ruled by racism. It has gotten so out of hand that ordinary families and children, minority or white, are ground up in the official meat grinder and broken up. Those that expose go through the retaliation process- arrest, discredit, financially ruin, break up family, imprison, and leave with PTSD and in terror for life.

Lawmakers To Study Fatherlessness

Sen. Gary LeBeau of East Hartford

For the past two years, Sen. Gary LeBeau, D-East Hartford, has been trying to get bill through the legislature that would create a task force to study the impact of children growing up without fathers. The bill passed the state Senate, but never came up for a vote in the House.

Speaker of the House James Amann, D-Milford, said Thursday that he formed a 12-member task force to look at the issue without legislation or funding to support it. He said the task force will give the legislature a clear picture of how to address this “serious problem.”

Rep. Bruce Morris, D-Norwalk, said the task force will be looking at if there are state policies contributing to the problem of fatherlessness and, if are there policies the legislature can implement to solve this problem.

“Virtually every social problem that we face is exacerbated, if not caused, by this epidemic of fatherlessness,” LeBeau said.

Rep. Faith McMahon, D-Windsor, said over 70 percent of all males incarcerated in Connecticut did not have a relationship with their father. Sen. Ed Meyer, D-Guilford, said there’s also a statistic that says children with fathers in prison have a 70 percent greater chance of committing a crime themselves.

The task force will meet between now and December to solicit comments and information from the public, experts, agencies, and others on the causes of a fathers absence.

Rep. Ken Green, D-Hartford, said the task force will even look to see if the financial burden of the state’s attempt to collect child support from fathers is limiting the involvement of the father in a child’s life.

An email I received today from Bill Mulready:

CT Legislative Task Forse on Fatherlessness. Well planned and teamed up is and will get us alot.‏
From: Bill Mulready (

To: Chris Kennedy Kennedy (; John DiBiase (; Ken K (; Steve Erickson (
Cc: John Dibiase (
Hi all! This is just a opinion from observation of two Task Forse meetings. I think we can really be heard and make a differance and be a major help and give understandable info that can be acted on by the Legislative Commitee between now and January when the Task Forse is to present it's report. To do that we need to present a some what profesional and FULLY respectful imiage and message. We each have areas that differ enough yet fall under the same umbrella and in the same colors of this issue.
The Commitee wants numbers and facts. What specificly is wrong, especially with which present laws. And of course 'don't bring me problems, bring me solutions. John left me a paper I think from Florada addressing doing away with custody and focasing on parenting plan for both parent involvement. What other states may have simular, or like that vote in Mass on shared parenting.
The Commitee is curently hearing of "wham bam" types of fatherlessness. Girls useing the system and or having a baby just to have the babies attention. No family structure or role models, kind of inbreeding itself.
If we use that to shock and shame the State by comparing the number of "Court Distroyed Families", the number of fathers who want to be fully involved but have been issolated, seperated, segrigated from their children by the Courts, by certain laws or inturpretation of "broad base Judiciary Discretionary Inturpretation of the Law".
Those of you who add contacts, please count the number, seperate those who may be on another list to double check. Ask for testamonials in their words that we can submit or present. If we can get confirmed commitment from a large number of these individuals we can try to get our own hearing date. Maybe if we can get a large number of Childless Fathers to attend each sesion peasefully it will help to give us recognition.
We definatly need to put our individual aggendas in writing and present this together at the appropreate time.
The Committee is inviting the Judges to address the committee. We need to be prepared, and our use of scatter gun targeting issues rather than blind folded use of a scatter gun.
I welcome your input and suggest we make time and put our heads and resorces together.
Thank you

Answer: If you are running any kind of Microsoft Windows application on a PC, you often need to reboot if the computer has been on a while. Otherwise videos will lock up and not play. FEMA phones hacked; calls made to Mideast, Asia

By EILEEN SULLIVAN, Associated Press Writer Wed Aug 20, 6:58 PM ET

WASHINGTON - A hacker broke into a Homeland Security Department telephone system over the weekend and racked up about $12,000 in calls to the Middle East and Asia.

The hacker made more than 400 calls on a Federal Emergency Management Agency voicemail system in Emmitsburg, Md., on Saturday and Sunday, according to FEMA spokesman Tom Olshanski.

FEMA is part of Homeland Security, which in 2003 put out a warning about this very vulnerability.

The voicemail system is new and recently was installed. It is a Private Branch Exchange, or PBX, a traditional corporate phone network that is used in thousands of companies and government offices. Many companies are moving to a higher tech version, known as Voice Over Internet Telephony.

This type of hacking is very low-tech and "old school," said John Jackson, a St. Louis-based security consultant. It was popular 10 to 15 years ago. Telecommunications security administrators now know to configure security settings, such as having individual users create unique passwords and not continue to use the password assigned to users in the initial setup.

"In this case it's sort of embarrassing that it happened to FEMA themselves — FEMA being a child of DHS, with calls going to the Middle East," Johnson said.

Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, India and Yemen are among the countries calls were made to, Olshanski said. Most of the calls were about three minutes long, but some were as long as 10 minutes.

Sprint caught the fraud over the weekend and halted all outgoing long-distance calls from FEMA's National Emergency Training Center in Emmitsburg.

FEMA's chief information officer is investigating who hacked into the system and where exactly the calls were placed to. At this point it appears a "hole" was left open by the contractor when the voicemail system was being upgraded, Olshanski said. Olshanski did not know who the contractor was or what hole specifically was left open, but he assured the hole has since been closed.

In 2003, Homeland Security and the FBI investigated multiple reports about private industry being breached by these types of hackers.

"This illegal activity enables unauthorized individuals anywhere in the world to communicate via compromised U.S. phone systems in a way that is difficult to trace," according to a department information bulletin from June 3, 2003.

Eyewitness: Prague Spring crushed

Ondrej Neff was a 23-year-old journalist at Czechoslovak Radio at the time of the Soviet-led invasion of his country on 21 August 1968.

Ondrej Neff in 1966 (left) and today
Ondrej Neff lost his prominent radio job after the invasion

Czechs and Slovaks are marking the 40th anniversary of the invasion, when 200,000 Warsaw Pact troops, backed by tanks and aircraft, marched in to crush Alexander Dubcek's liberal reforms, known as the Prague Spring.

Here Mr Neff describes how he helped broadcast news of the invasion. Today he is a freelance journalist, blogger and science fiction writer living in Prague.

I was very young at the time, and I'd only been working for Czechoslovak Radio for two years. The foreign desk was the elite of the radio station, and I was the youngest person there.

I lived quite near the station, about 10 minutes' walk, so I was one of the first people to arrive. It was shortly after 0200. I'd been woken up by the sound of the aircraft overhead: Antonovs carrying troops. It was a very scary sight - this dark night, and all these planes without lights, like huge dark crosses flying over our heads.

When I got to work there were already about 10 or 15 people there; some of them had been on the night shift of course. We were helpless, because the minister of telecommunications had switched off the radio and television transmitters, but the technicians managed to find a way of broadcasting via the telephone lines.

I can remember the sense of desperation I felt in those early days of the occupation. I felt my future had been lost. But of course hope dies last, and we thought that somehow our political leaders - some of whom had been kidnapped and taken to Moscow - would be able to get through to the Russians.
But none of us really had any illusions. Dubcek wasn't strong enough as a person to fight against Soviet leader Leonid Brezhnev, who was a dictator in the style of Stalin.

Makeshift studio

I remember very well the face of the first Russian soldier I saw. He was carrying a huge machine gun, and looked like he'd just stepped out of a film about the battle of Stalingrad. He was very dirty, and his face was full of sweat. It was absolutely ridiculous, absolutely absurd.

Czechs attack Soviet tank, 25 Aug 1968
Czechs managed to disable some Soviet tanks on the streets of Prague

I tried to talk to him, but it was pointless, he wouldn't speak to me. Even later on, when I did manage to speak to some of the soldiers, it was useless. They were totally indoctrinated. They believed they had prevented the outbreak of World War III or something.

We managed to carry on broadcasting from the headquarters of Czechoslovak radio on Vinohradska Street for a while, then we had to move to a military broadcasting studio about 2km away. We broadcast from there for about 24 hours, before the Russians came and chased us out.

Finally we ended up in a very strange place - a secret studio used by the Italian Communists, who had a subversive radio station here in the 1960s. Practically nobody knew about it - they claimed their broadcasts came from a secret location inside Italy, but they were really put together here in Prague.

The studio had been damaged by fire a few months earlier, and our technicians had been called in to repair the wiring, so they knew about it of course. Our technicians led us to this building and we broadcast from there until mid-September, when things calmed down and we were able to return to the main building.

I left Czechoslovak radio shortly afterwards to do my military service, but by the time I got out of the army, in September 1970, it was all over. All the people in the radio had changed. Obviously I'd been fired from my job in the foreign section.

I ended up going back to college and trained to be a film projector, and got a job in a cinema. Later I became a photographer, and did that for 10 years. In the 1980s, when the situation relaxed a bit, I started publishing science fiction stories.

After the revolution, in the early 1990s, I went back to where I had left off in the 1960s! It was rather ridiculous - I was 45, and I was learning how to be a professional journalist again, after a gap of 20 years.

Of course August 1968 was an important chapter in my life, as it was in the life of practically everybody in my generation, because it changed the lives of all of us - some for the better, some for the worst. Nothing was the same again.

Visual memories and emotional memories are one thing, but political reflections are another. I think the future will judge the importance of this event, because personally I believe that in August 1968, communism as a political and ideological movement lost its moral face.

"Damn Bloggers!"

Connecticut Chief Justice Chase T. Rogers

Was she making this comment about me when addressing the Bar Association at [this meeting]?:

"You, as a dedicated and committed group of attorneys, have been ardent and vocal supporters in the area of educating the public about the rule of law, and the bench is tremendously appreciative of these efforts. This principle is vital, and it is essential that the public understand precisely what is at stake when our constitutional obligation to apply the rule of law is under attack.

"When judges do the right thing under the law, however, we often make someone angry. And let me assure you, in the no-holds-barred era of the Internet soapbox, the feedback -- often anonymous -- can be brutal. As you know, we as judges cannot, under our Code of Judicial Ethics, comment about our cases. That is why it is so essential that the bar step up and speak up to make sure that the public understands the need for an independent judiciary that will apply the rule of law as opposed to making the popular or less controversial decision."

Why did the Connecticut Judicial Branch seal public comment [like this] from the public? Was a [survey rigged] and maybe considered defrauding taxpayers?

Does this [cheer leading session] of the Connecticut Judicial Branch look like a scam?

Is this a conspiracy involving all 3 branches of Connecticut government?:

Metro Briefing | Connecticut: Mashantucket: Indian Map Is Missing

Published: February 7, 2002

The original map outlining the Indian reservation where the Foxwoods Resort Casino is situated is missing. Legislators from Connecticut towns critical of Indian casinos say the map's absence calls into question the legality of the Mashantucket Pequot reservation and its casino. The 1983 Settlement Act, which gave the outlined land back to the tribe, states that the original map must be filed with the secretary of state, and it is not, the lawmakers said in a letter dated Jan. 29 to Connecticut's House and Senate. They requested federal help to find the map and confirm that the casino is on lawfully ceded land. Hope Reeves (NYT)

Text that I typed into the Hartford Courant Capitol Watch blog, queued for approval:

I will be asking Rep. Chris Shays to hold a Congressional hearing to shut down all 3 branches of Connecticut based on it being run like an organized crime organization not following the Connecticut and US Constitutions.

If I recall correctly Rep. Mike Lawlor was instrumental in making the Connecticut Sheriffs, law enforcement under the Judicial Branch. Without an amended Connecticut Constitution isn't that illegal? Aren't any arrests made by Judicial Marshals false arrests?

Back in 1999 and 2000 those that spoke out about the Sheriffs in print or to elected officials could become targets for prison and property loss, to be covertly investigated and brought down by covert ops of the Connecticut State Police.

Isn't Peter Clark Smith a lobbyist for Fox Woods and the Mohegan Sun? So, they what is he doing screening judges in the Judicial Branch writing checks to both Democrats and Republicans in Connecticut?

Should the exploits of Santa Mendoza be looked int? Should the double dipping in the Judicial Branch be looked into where Joe D'Alessio is a perp that is obstructing justice and involved in the Judicial Branch sending private investigator thugs to intimidate and silence judicial branch whistleblowers, their friends, and their families.

Sheriffs allegedly got pensions for 20 years hazardous duty. They then allegedly retired without putting 20 years in and violated the 120 per diem being able to double dip. Is the Judicial Branch in Connecticut responsible for defrauding the taxpayers of about 100 million dollars?

Remarks by Chief Justice Chase T. Rogers
CBA Bench/Bar Awards Luncheon
June 9, 2008

Good afternoon. I want to first thank you for inviting me back to speak at this year’s annual meeting. It has been a full year -- for both the courts and the CBA -- and I am delighted to have the opportunity to address you. Today, I want to specifically recognize you for your support of the Judicial Branch throughout the last year. I also want to mention how fortunate you are to have had the leadership of Attorney Bill Prout, Jr. over the past year. So, to all of you and Bill, thank you for all that yo u have done to enhance our state court system.
You, as a dedicated and committed group of attorneys, have been ardent and vocal supporters in the area of educating the public about the rule of law, and the bench is tremendously appreciative of these efforts. This principle is vital, and it is essential that the public understand precisely what is at stake when our constitutional obligation to apply the rule of law is under attack.
Some people, over the past few years, have attached negative connotations to the phrase “judicial independence,” to the effect that it is nothing more than an invitation to run amok from the bench. I strongly disagree with that interpretation. Instead, the concept of judicial independence is the need for judges to be free from improper influence, which includes political or special interests or popular public sentiment. It protects the access of all citizens to fair and impartial courts. Simply put, judicial independence is your independence, both as attorneys who practice in our courts and as members of the public who utilize the judicial system.
"Procedures have been put in place that will speed up security checks for attorneys at metal detectors. For instance, if you have your ID badge showing you are an attorney, you will not have to remove items of clothing. In addition, new judicial marshal classes are receiving training on dealing politely and efficiently with the public as they come through the doors. Conference rooms will now be unlocked during lunch hours and before court opens. And finally, a rule will be submitted to the judges for approval in June that will allow attorneys and the public to bring camera phones into the courthouse. This only makes sense. First, try finding a cell phone without a camera these days. More importantly, however, the marshals checked in and held 290,000 camera cell phones last year. Obviously, this procedure severely delayed the time it took for these individuals -- and everyone standing behind them -- to enter the courthouse."

A former lawyer was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole yesterday in the killing of his wife and two children two years ago.
Judge Susan B. Handy of Superior Court accepted the prosecution's decision not to seek the death penalty for the former lawyer, Scott Pickles.
He pleaded guilty last week to three counts of capital felony and three counts of murder in the stabbing death of his wife, Susan Pickles, 38, and the deaths of their children, Elizabeth, 6, and Alexander, 3.

NEW LONDON, Conn. — Still adamant that she was framed by a vindictive ex-lover, attorney Beth Carpenter was sentenced Friday to life in prison without parole for her role in the 1994 contract killing of her brother-in-law.
Carpenter, 38, sobbed quietly but said nothing during a 90-minute hearing that ended with Judge Robert Devlin Jr. imposing the only sentence allowed by state law. Devlin called the March 10, 1994, shooting death of 28-year-old Anson "Buzz" Clinton of East Lyme "insane" and something that Carpenter could have prevented.
According to prosecutors, Carpenter coaxed her cocaine-abusing former lover and boss, attorney Haiman Clein of Old Saybrook, into having Clinton killed because of a family dispute over his wife's daughter. The now 12-year-old girl was Clinton's step-daughter and Carpenter's niece.

Minorities set to be US majority

The Statue of Liberty, New York's historical landmark for immigrants
Population projections are subject to a variety of factors

White people of European descent will no longer make up a majority of the US population by the year 2042 - eight years sooner than previous estimates.

The big change is among Hispanics and Asians whose share of the population is set to double to 30% and 9%.

The population is also ageing: by 2050 one in five residents will be aged 65 or over, up from one in nine today.

The US Census Bureau's latest projections are based on birth, death and current immigration rates.

The projections show that the US population is expected to rise from 305 million people to 439 million by 2050, but it will be a population that looks quite different both in age, race and ethnicity.

According to the census bureau's statistics, people who regard themselves as Hispanic, African-American, Asian, American Indian, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander will become the majority by 2042.

Officials had previously projected that this change would happen in 2050.

The new projections suggestion that by 2050, minorities will account for 54% of the population and non-Hispanic whites 46%, down from their current 64.7% share.

Graph showing projected changes in population to 2050 by race and Hispanic origin

Immigration and higher birth rates among US minorities, especially Hispanics, are accelerating the demographic changes.

Hispanics will see their population nearly triple from 47 million to 133 million, causing their share of the population to increase from 15% to 30%.

Asians will also see a big increase, with their numbers growing from 16 million to 41 million.

Single-race Asians will account for 8% of the population and 9% including those of mixed race.

The black population, including those of mixed race, will show a slight increase from 14% to 15% of the total.

'Ageing baby boomers'

It is likely that the demographic changes will be experienced right across the country - and no longer confined to urban areas as in the past.

The population will also be ageing, with some 88 million people, predominantly white, being aged 65 and over.

The number of people over 85 years old will more than triple in the next 40 years, reaching 19 million.

"The white population is older and very much centred around the ageing baby boomers who are well past their high fertility years," William Frey, a demographer at the Brookings Institution think tank, told the Associated Press.

"The future of America is epitomised by the young people today. They are basically the melting pot we are going to see in the future."

The Census Bureau points out that its projections are subject to big revisions, depending on immigration policy, natural or man-made disasters.

The projections are also subject to changing cultural definitions and the way people see themselves.

The New York Times notes that in earlier eras Irish, Italian and Eastern European Jewish immigrants were not universally considered as whites.

Until the 1960s, Hispanics were not counted separately by the census and Asian Indians were classified as whites, the paper reports.

Hacker wins US extradition delay

Gary McKinnon
Gary McKinnon could face a long prison sentence

A Briton accused of hacking into secret military computers has won a two-week stay on his extradition to the US.

Glasgow-born Gary McKinnon won a stay until 28 August at the European Court of Human Rights after losing an appeal at the House of Lords last month.

The unemployed man could face life in jail if convicted of accessing 97 US military and Nasa computers.

The 42-year-old admitted breaking into the computers from his London home but said he sought information on UFOs.

A brief statement by his solicitors announced said he has been granted "interim relief" until that date "for his application to be heard before the full chamber".

Mr McKinnon, 42, first lost his case at the High Court in 2006 before taking it to the highest court in the UK, the House of Lords.

He was arrested in 2002 but never charged in the UK.

The US government claims he committed a malicious crime - the biggest military computer hack ever.

Computer nerd

The authorities have warned that without his co-operation and a guilty plea the case could be treated as terrorism and he could face a long jail sentence.

The former systems analyst, is accused of hacking into the computers with the intention of intimidating the US government.

It alleges that between February 2001 and March 2002, he hacked into dozens of US Army, Navy, Air Force, and Department of Defense computers, as well as 16 Nasa computers.

Prosecutors say he altered and deleted files at a naval air station not long after the 11 September attacks in 2001, rendering critical systems inoperable.

However, Mr McKinnon has said he is merely a computer nerd, whose motives were harmless and innocent. He denies any attempts at sabotage.

He said he wanted to find evidence of UFOs he thought was being held by the US authorities, and to expose what he believed was a cover-up.

HIV/AIDS not as much in the news

India's writers tell Aids stories

Some of India's best-known writers have come together in a unique anthology of writing which tells the human stories behind HIV/Aids in the country.

India has one of the largest numbers of HIV-positive people in the world and they suffer serious social stigma.

Aids Sutra: Untold Stories from India has been published in collaboration with Avahan, the India Aids initiative of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, a leading HIV prevention project.

Roughly $2 from the proceeds of each book sold will go to support children affected by HIV/Aids in cities which have a high prevalence of the disease.

For the project, 16 writers travelled across the country to talk to housewives, vigilantes, homosexuals, drug addicts, policemen and sex workers - and served up engaging essays on the disease and its fallout in India.

'Huge achievement'

They include Booker Prize-winners Sir Salman Rushdie and Kiran Desai; Vikram Seth, the celebrated author of A Suitable Boy; and internationally-acclaimed writer and historian William Dalrymple.

Other contributors include novelist Amit Chaudhuri, leading Bengali writer Sunil Gangopadhyay, historian-writer Mukul Kesavan and popular novelist Shobhaa De.

Sex workers in India
India has one of the largest numbers of HIV-positive people in the world

"This [anthology] is a huge achievement... it is critically important to recognise that the Aids epidemic is primarily a crisis of human lives... We are in it together," says Nobel Prize-winning economist Amartya Sen in the foreword.

The range of essays is truly impressive.

Sir Salman, for example, spends a day with eunuchs in the western city of Mumbai (Bombay) to write up a piece called The Half-Woman God.

"India has always understood androgyny, the man in the woman's body, the woman in the man's. Yet... the third gender of India still need our understanding, and our help," he says.

Kiran Desai travelled to the southern coastal state of Andhra Pradesh to meet its sex workers. The state has one of the highest rates of infection in India.

"What I had seen, really seen, were lives lived with the intensity of art; rife with metaphor, raw, distilled," Desai writes.

"The emotions of love and friendship, you'd assume would be missing or rotten, in these communities - existing even more so for their being sought amidst illegality, fragmentation and betrayal.

"These were lives lived beyond ordinariness, insisting on a personal story, not exchangeable with any other."

William Dalrymple met a number of devadasis - literally, slaves of the goddess of fertility - who often end up as sex workers in India.

"I was completely unaware of the scale of the Aids epidemic in India before I took part in this project," said Dalrymple.

Kiran Desai with one of her subjects
Kiran Desai found 'raw' intensity in the lives of sex workers

"I was both intellectually challenged and emotionally moved by what I saw and learned. When an epidemic gains a human face, and you actually meet people who are dying of this disease, everything changes."

Vikram Seth simply wrote a poem on Aids, opening with:

I shall die soon, I know/The thing is in my blood/It will not let me go/It saps my cells for food

And he ends poignantly:

Stay by my steel ward bed/And hold me where I lie/Love me when I am dead/And do not let me die.

Silence and shame

Seth says that HIV/Aids in India is "exacerbated by our ignorance and shame about sex".

"We simply don't like to talk about it - even to impart or receive essential, life saving information."

Amit Chaudhuri talks to Indian doctors fighting the disease and the stigma attached to it in an essay called Healing.

An Aids awareness rally in India
There is ignorance and shame about sex in India, says Vikram Seth

"None of the doctors I met... had initially been trained to face the disease. What they were now was shaped by it; and HIV had confronted each in a slightly different incarnation - a rumour; a makeshift pedagogy; a death."

Celebrated Bengali writer Sunil Gangopadhyay returned to the thriving red light district of Sonagachi in the eastern city of Calcutta after nearly five decades.

Sonagachi has managed to keep infection rates lower than other red light districts in India by empowering sex workers - infection rates have hovered between 5% and 10% here, compared to nearly 50% in Mumbai's Kamathipura district.

Siddhartha Deb travelled to India's north-eastern state of Manipur, parts of which are ravaged by HIV, heroin addiction and a separatist war.

"Whether it is violence, addiction, poverty or Aids, these miseries seem to take place in the state - an invisible corner of India that seems to have received nothing from modernity except drugs, guns and draconian laws," he says.

There are also essays on the last days of a film-maker dying of the disease, orphans made by the disease, and high-risk truck drivers.

Aids Sutra is published in the US and UK by Anchor Books and Vintage respectively, and in India by Random House India.

Fascism Rules?

Kristine Blake worked for the DMR in Connecticut, the Department of Mental Retardation. Like most of official Connecticut, there is nepotism, blatant corruption, and retaliation if you get in the way.

Kristine Blake was out of the country when other workers, who were put up to it, made false accusations. Had she not had a stamped passport proving she was out of the country, she could have been railroaded to prison.

Official Connecticut sent in one their quacks to give her medication after medication to have her committed for mental illness. These thugs in government should not be getting away with this. [more]

US Curfews and Martial Law

The below is a video of West Helena, Arkansas, but could be anywhere in the US. Hartford, Connecticut, is currently on lock-down due to a string of shootings. Police can overreact and mistreat citizens for decades, and if there is a little strife and violence, there is an excuse to go on total lock down. It is about racism, separate and unequal, and is a prelude of what is to come in America. Police and judicial misconduct seems to the rule, not the exception, in too much of downtown America.

I ask the Connecticut Program Review and Investigation Committee legislators if they want fair play and justice in Connecticut, scroll down in [this post]. Where Connecticut goes, the nation seems to follow. Eminent Domain is a perfect example [video].

Common Cause statement on Bolton, Miers contempt ruling

Common Cause applauds the decision of United States District Court Judge John D. Bates to reject the President's claim of absolute immunity from having to comply with Congressional subpoenas for former White House counsel, Harriet E. Miers, and the current White House chief of staff, Joshua B. Bolten.

"The White House's claim that current and former White House aides are immune from congressional subpoena is another example of President Bush's abuse of power," said Common Cause President Bob Edgar. "This groundbreaking decision in support of the Congress' right to enforce its subpoenas is a victory for our democracy."

In throwing out the absolute immunity argument, President Bush's own appointee to the federal bench has dealt a lethal blow to former White House aide Karl Rove's claim of absolute immunity from Congressional questioning. The House Judiciary Committee has recommended that Rove be cited for contempt for also ignoring a subpoena.

"The Executive cannot identify a single judicial opinion that recognizes absolute immunity for senior presidential advisors in this or any other context. That simple yet critical fact bears repeating: the asserted absolute immunity claim here is entirely unsupported by existing case law. In fact, there is Supreme Court authority that is all but conclusive on this question and that powerfully suggests that such advisors do not enjoy absolute immunity. The Court therefore rejects the Executive's claim of absolute immunity for senior presidential aides," Bates wrote in the ruling, citing several cases, including United States v. Nixon (1974).
